𝐂𝐇𝐑𝐎𝐍𝐈𝐂𝐋𝐄𝐒 | 𝐓𝐀𝐔 𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐠𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐬 𝐚𝐭 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐃𝐚𝐲
The Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) Planning and Development Office (PDO) in collaboration with the Office of Vice President for Research, Extension and Training, College of Engineering and Technology (CET) - Computer Studies Department, CET Student Council, and DevCon Pampanga Chapter, participated in the localized celebration of 2025 National Innovation Day (NID) through a forum at the TAU Student and Alumni Center Amphitheater, 21 April.
Reinforcing its vision to emerge as a global leader in smart agriculture and bioresources research, TAU invited resource speakers who highlighted cutting-edge technologies and research initiatives.
During the morning session, Mr. Jay Marc Valdez, Associate Manager for Data Engineering from DXC Technology, mentioned about life’s challenges and encouraged the students to pursue innovation through perseverance and dedication before the presentation of team 403-Access Denied, who won the Hackathon Trailblazer Award.
In addition, Mr. Adrian L. Cruz, Digital Transformation Manager from Google Philippines, demonstrated how generative AI can revolutionize crop management, resource efficiency, and responsible usage of AI in education followed by the presentation of Team RedLine, the winner of Hackathon Innovator Award, presented its output.
Following the informative presentations during the morning forum, an open discussion was also facilitated by the key speakers, to address the queries of listeners.
The afternoon session continued with presentations of milestones in biotechnology and root crop productivity by TAU experts Dr. Maria Elena T. Caguioa and Ms. Aira F. Waje, who showcased sustainable solutions. These were followed by a discussion led by Team Nexus, Hackathon Vanguard Awardee, highlighting their project, and a presentation on engineering innovations outlined by Engr. Mary Grace N. Semilla with the topic “Atmometer-based Irrigation System.”
During the closing remarks, Dr. Eugene S. Valeriano, PDO Director, representing Dr. Leonell P. Lijauco, Vice President for Planning and Quality Assurance (VPPQA), emphasized that National Innovation Day celebrates the bold ideas that propel the nation forward. He expressed profound gratitude to the speakers and to the University’s facilitators for spearheading the event. “May this 2025 NID celebration cultivate the ideas into tangible solutions where our student innovators can together build a SMARTer, more sustainable TAU,” he stated.
