After five years of unyielding commitment to innovation and global relevance, the Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) has finally earned a prized spot in the World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI) Global Most Innovative Universities, earning the 93rd spot globally, 8th country-wide, and 1st in the entire Central Luzon region.
Announced during the 5th Annual Hanseatic League of Universities (HLU) Conference held at Silliman University, Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental, on 10 July, this achievement places TAU among only nine Philippine Higher Education Institutions (PHEIs) in the Top 100 of the 2025 edition. Also, TAU attained the 110th tier in WURI 2024.
Rising among 1,253 participating colleges and universities across the world, TAU impressed the WURI panel and fellow HEI voting representatives with entries that underscored its commitment to inclusive, technology-driven, and sustainability-focused solutions.Β
The University from Camiling, Tarlac claimed the 10th spot in Industrial Application for its entry entitled βSMART Agriculture: Propelling Green Revolution in the 21st Century.β It also landed 13th in Entrepreneurial Spirit with βBamboo: From Poor Manβs Timber to Green Gold.β Meanwhile, its 18th-place finish in Technology Development and Application was clinched by βSatellite Imagery Crop Monitoring and Forecasting System.β TAU also submitted five other entries, but their exact placements have yet to be released by WURI.Β
Congratulating the University's leadership, Technical Working Group (TWG), and Secretariat, TAU President Dr. Silverio Ramon DC. Salunson said that this victory belongs to all of TAU's stakeholders and partners.Β
"TAU has always been an advocate of internationalization and innovation. This accomplishment further reflects our University's impact on communities we serve, whether in the country or beyond. We hope that our policies, projects, and technologies truly transform the lives of people from all walks of life, but especially those from the margins of society," Dr. Salunson conveyed.Β
Adding to the significance of this moment, the Philippines hosted the HLU Summit for the very first time. This marks a major step for the countryβs higher education sector in fostering global partnerships and knowledge exchange. During the summit, TAU also showcased its WURI 2024 entry under the entrepreneurial spirit category, contributing to international dialogues on startup development and social responsibility.
TAUβs inclusion in the WURI Top 100 solidifies its vision to be a globally engaged institution driven by scientific inquiry and discovery, sharing of resources, and inclusive progress. With this landmark recognition, the University not only celebrates another breakthrough but also reaffirms its mission to create more responsive opportunities and avenues to address contemporary and future challenges with a glocal impact.
