In a bid to translate research to marketable solutions, team Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) engaged in the PITCH IT SMART: Technology that Sells workshop at the Old Sanguniang Panlalawigan Hall in the Tarlac Capitol on 19 June.
Steered by the Provincial Government of Tarlac (PGT) and the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) - Provincial Science and Technology Office, the workshop culminated in a pitching competition where researchers presented their innovations to a panel.Β
TAU made a strong showing, with Ms. Susana D. Ramos, faculty from College of Agriculture and Forestry (CAF), securing 3rd Place Best Pitch for her nutrient-rich Nutritea. Meanwhile, Ms. Myrla U. Ramos, also CAF faculty member, impressed the evaluators with her innovative Chocolate-Flavored Cowpea Beverage, highlighting the potential of underutilized crops.
Behind the strong performance was a well-coordinated support system. Dr. Maria Elena T. Caguioa, Director for Research and Development, and Mr. Emanuelle Jayson T. Boac, Chief of the Innovation and Technology Support Office (ITSO), played active roles in mentoring the team. The Information Unit contributed to the development of compelling pitch scripts, while the CAS-Development Communication Department enhanced the visual and narrative quality of the presentations. Other faculty researchers from various colleges within TAU also took part, reflecting the institutionβs collaborative spirit in advancing its innovation agenda.
Aimed at accelerating the transition of locally developed technologies to viable products, the workshop aligned with PGT and DOSTβs shared commitment to enabling research-based economic opportunities. Through this accomplishment, TAU strengthens its position as a leading center for agri-food innovation in Central Luzon, while PGT and DOST highlight a growing government thrust to empower science-based enterprises.
