To continue its support for graduating students and boost the Universityโ€™s employment rate, the Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU), through the efforts of the Student Placement Office (SPO), conducted a Pre-Employment Orientation Seminar (PEOS) at the Gilberto O. Teodoro Multipurpose Center from 29-30 May and 2 June.

The participants from six colleges of the University learned about resume writing techniques, interview preparation, and cultivating a culture of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) through interactive sessions with TAU faculty members and staff: Dr. Rene G. Nanit, Mr. Nestor R. Dadufalza II, Mr. April Christian L. De Leon, Ms. Czarina C. Aguilar, Mr. Nelmark G. Gualberto, Ms. Maria C. Tobago, Mr. Jessie E. Dela Cruz, Engr. John Leonard M. Constantino, Mr. Jasper S. Alfonso, Dr. Esmeralda P. Rodriguez, Dr. Jerome D. Soriano, Ms. Venus P. Benitez, Dr. Allan Jeffrey E. Francia, Mr. Johnny A. Parel, and Ms. Neptune S. Solar.

Dr. Conrado C. Domingo, the Education Program Supervisor (EPS) 1 for Science from the Schools Division of Tarlac Province, also imparted specific skills and techniques on empathy, leadership, and advocacy to graduating students from the College of Education. The lecture also aimed to provide essential competencies for graduating educators to shape the future of learning.

Grateful for the activity organized by TAU-SPO, Mr. Allen John C. Agcang, a Bachelor of Science in Development Communication (BSDC) graduand from the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), shared that the seminar was very helpful as he plans to look for a job after graduation. โ€œIt greatly benefits me in crafting my resume and my behavioral adaptation to the working environment. I will actively participate in DEI activities in the company where I will start my future career,โ€ he stated.

โ€œIn reality, students cannot learn everything within the four corners of the classroom. Thatโ€™s why PEOS is a great help in exposing them to the realities of the outside world and managing their expectations in the workplace,โ€ Mr. De Leon shared after his session titled โ€œCultivating a Culture of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: Making DEI a Habit in the Workplace.โ€

Meanwhile, Dr. Marianne P. Villaruel, former Director of SPO and newly appointed Officer-in-Charge of External Linkages and International Affairs (ELIA), shared her insights about the activity, โ€œPEOS is exclusively for our graduating students in order to equip them with essential knowledge and skills for successful transition into the workforce guided by the core values of TAU: resiliency, agility, innovation, sustainability, and excellence,โ€ she stated.
