CHRONICLES | TAU channels carabao spirit: “Hataw, Kalabaw!” drives CAF week
Strengthening bonds among students, faculty and staff, the Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) - College of Agriculture and Forestry (CAF) through CAF Student Council (SC) , held a three-day celebration blending education, culture, agricultural practices, and traditional games from 2-4 April, mirroring the humility, hard work, and perseverance of carabaos.
The event kicked off with an energetic parade of students and employees, followed by an exciting lineup of activities like traditional Filipino games (Laro ng Lahi) at the CAF Grounds and TAU Rice Field, including kadang-kadang relay races, tug of war, sack races, and the lively Agawan ng buko (coconut snatching) and Agawan ng itik (duck catching).
Aside from games, students also demonstrated their wit and creativity in contests such as essay writing, spoken poetry, vocal performances, painting, photography, and a quiz bee, at the Farmers' Training Center (FTC)and CAF Grounds.
The CAF SC and various student organizations (SOs) also led a colorful fun run followed by the Organization Day, which concluded with a socialization night that served as a fellowship gathering to cap off the week-long celebration.
Moreover, Dr. Sinamar E. Estudillo, CAF Dean, commended the SOs, faculty members, and staff for supporting the event that showcased the talents of the members of CAF community, and celebrated the unique Filipino tradition.
