As part of the Regional Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signed on 19 May in the City of San Fernando, Pampanga, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office 3 and Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) are teaming up to enhance the implementation of the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) initiative in Region 3.

The MOA was formalized by Dir. Armont C. Pecina, Assistant Regional Director for Operations, on behalf of DSWD Field Office 3 Regional Director Venus F. Rebuldela, while Dr. Edmar N. Franquera, Vice President for Research Extension and Training (VPRET) and Dr. Agnes C. Perey, Director for Extension and Training, represented TAU President Dr. Silverio Ramon D.C. Salunson.

Said agreement outlines a collaborative effort of DSWD and TAU to alleviate poverty and empower marginalized communities through capacity-building, employment facilitation, and microenterprise support.

DSWD will provide data, technical assistance, and oversight during the implementation of capacity building interventions, while TAU will offer training, mentoring, research support, and access to facilities for SLP participants.

The collaboration between DSWD and TAU underscores a โ€œwhole-of-governmentโ€ approach in delivering sustainable development and inclusive growth in Region III, through a joint effort between national government agencies and the academe.
