A team from the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP) steered a crucial three-day Level IV Phase 2 AACCUP accreditation process of five Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) programs, 23-25 June.Β Β
Combining onsite and online assessment, AACCUP led the meticulous evaluation of PhD in Development Education, MA in Education, MS in Agriculture, BS in Business Administration, and BS in Food Technology. This comprehensive evaluation underscores TAU's commitment to maintaining the highest academic standards and continuous improvement.
Facilitated by the Quality Assurance (QA) Office, the accreditation process kicked off with a welcome dinner on 22 June and a formal opening program featuring presentations from each department on 23 June. The College of Education (CEd) reported on the status of PhD in Development Education and MA in Education, while the College of Business and Management (CBM) discussed the successes and opportunities in BS in Business Administration. Simultaneously, the College of Agriculture and Forestry (CAF) led the introduction of MS in Agriculture and BS in Food Technology programs.
Leading the AACCUP accreditors was Overall Coordinator Dr. Reynaldo T. Gelido from Pangasinan State University (PSU). The evaluation team also includes subject matter experts whose expertise ensures a thorough examination of each program's curriculum, research output, and community engagement initiatives, among others.
As the evaluation progressed on 24 June, the focus shifted to stakeholder engagement, with accreditors meeting program representatives to assess the real-world impact of TAU's programs. These interactions provided valuable insights into how TAU's academic offerings translate into high licensure passing and employability rates and continuous lifelong learning opportunities of its graduates and alumni,Β
Throughout the process, TAU President Dr. Silverio Ramon DC. Salunson emphasized how this accreditation aligns with the University's vision of becoming a globally recognized institution embracing Smart University strategy. "This evaluation isn't just about compliance," Dr. Salunson noted. "It is about our shared journey toward excellence in producing socially responsible graduates who can address pressing global challenges."
At the exit conference on 25 June, comprehensive feedback from the AACCUP team received a formal response from TAU leadership. Representing Dr. Salunson, Dr. Sonny DC. Torres, Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs (VPASA), and Dr. Leonell P. Lijauco, Vice President for Planning and Quality Assurance (VPPQA), expressed confidence that the University will emerge from this process strengthened and better positioned to serve its students and partner communities. Both officials also thanked the colleges, the QA Office, and the Office of the Graduate Programs, for their rigorous planning and preparation spanning months.Β Β
This thorough accreditation process not only validates TAU's current achievements but also charts a course for future growth. By welcoming external evaluation and committing to continuous improvement, TAU reinforces its position as a leading institution in agricultural and developmental education in the Philippines. The University community looks forward to implementing the accreditors' recommendations to further enhance its academic programs and community impact.
As the University awaits the final results, faculty, staff, and students remain proud of their collective efforts to maintain TAU's reputation for excellence in higher education.
