Tarlac Agricultural University’s (TAU) leadership is on a mission to transform the University into a future-ready institution.

Helmed by the Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP), the Certificate Course onΒ  Foresight and Futures Thinking (FT) commenced at the Bamboo Training Center (BTC) on 17 April. Honoring the opening ceremony were Dr. Max P. Guillermo, TAU President; Dr. Lizan E. Peranta-Calina, Dean of DAP-Graduate School of Public Development Management (GSPDM);Β  and other officials from TAU and DAP.

Designed to foster a culture of readiness and strategic multi-sectoral engagement, said course highlights FT praxis and paradigms focusing on the futures of literacy and intelligence.Β

Upon welcoming the guests who joined virtually, Dr. Guillermo expressed his gratitude to the learning managers from DAP for providing TAU community with an avenue to integrate foresight and futures thinking dimensions into TAU’s long-term development. In his message, Dr. Guillermo also underscored the value of patience and preparation, demonstrating his personal mantra of visionary leadership.Β

For TAU Batch 1, 30 participants attended the hybrid sessions which are divided in three modules with the third module to be facilitated on 23 April. The presentation of Policy Foresight Papers in DAP Conference Center, Tagaytay City, is tentatively slated for 2 May.Β

Meanwhile, another set of participants are scheduled to undergo the same training in June 2024. They, too, will learn futures thinking’s foundational concepts,Β  tools and methodologies, and state of practice.

The activity is part of TAU’s Annual Performance Review and Program Planning Workshop where administrators and middle-level managers need to work together alongside other stakeholders and clients to ensure effective and efficient operations which are consistent with the local, national, and international standards and goals especially in instruction, research, extension, and production.Β
