PalawanSU contingent led by Mr. Roy Albert Acosta, Ms. Remelyn Feliciano, and Mr. Lesbert Bayanay interacts with TAU President Dr. Silverio Ramon DC. Salunson; Vice President for Research Extension and Training (VPRET) Dr. Edmar N. Franquera; Director of Department of Extension and Training (DET) Dr. Agnes C. Perey; and DET staff.

During the discussion, PalawanSU inquires about TAUโ€™s strategies for research innovation and institutional framework on how to achieve sustainable impact to which Dr. Salunson emphasizes the critical role of the Universityโ€™s faculty, staff, and researchers in driving quality outcomes. He also mentions the data-driven Department Performance and Commitment Review (DPCR) targets that serve as a key component in monitoring the performance indicators of TAUโ€™s departments, units, offices, and colleges and the conduct of various training and extension activities held at TAU in collaboration with different agencies.

In addition, Dr. Salunson also points out the importance of complying with the Commission on Higher Educationโ€™s academic standard in achieving Certificate of Program Compliance (COPC) for all courses offered in the University.ย

The firm support for its community led the Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) to empower its faculty members and non-academic staff through the Global Knowledge Exchange Series (GKES) Session 3 themed โ€œEnhancing Employee Performance: Utilizing Employees to the Fullestโ€, held virtually via Zoom on 11 April. This session was a collaborative undertaking between the TAU - External Linkages and International Affairs (ELIA) and Human Resource Management Office (HRMO).

GKES Session 3 featured Dr. Vivek Vinayakrao Wankhede, Chief Human Resource Officer and Assistant Professor at Sanjivani University, India who served as the resource speaker during the event.

Dr. Arnold R. Lorenzo, Vice President for Finance and Administration (VPFA), officially welcomed Dr. Wankhede and all participants. He also reiterated the importance of engaging in such events to enhance employeesโ€™ skills and competencies in the workplace.

โ€œOur employees whose talents, dedication and potential; fuel the everyday operations and long-time goals of the University. Todayโ€™s knowledge exchange is not merely a presentation, it is an invitation for reflection, action and innovation. It calls us to view performance enhancement not just as a metric to be achieved but asย  a culture to be cultivated. One where employees are valued, empowered and enabled to thrive in the roles,โ€ Dr. Lorenzo expressed.

On the other hand, Dr. Silverio Ramon DC. Salunson, TAU President, emphasized that this pivotal event reflects the shared internationalization (IZN) efforts between TAU and Sanjivani University. He also acknowledged TAU employeesโ€™ contributions for making the University a globally recognized higher education institution (HEI) in the Philippines and across the world.

โ€œAt the core of everyoneโ€™s successful institution is a team of dedicated, empowered and well-supported individuals. It is to ensure that our human resources are not only competent but also part of our values. This result is more than just a gift. Itโ€™s an opportunity to exchange insights, strategies, and best practices on how we can elevate performance and harness potential environments where everyone thrives," Dr. Salunson highlighted.

To formally commence the learning session, Dr. Benny S. Soliman, Director of External Linkages and International Affairs (ELIA), introduced Dr. Wankhede, highlighting his extensive academic background in terms of management corporate training and strategic consultancy, highlighting his expertise as both an academician and an administrator.

With expertise in leading organizations, Dr. Wankhede discussed how employees enhance their performance by identifying the five cost-effective human resources strategies to foster Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB) such as culture of fairness and inclusion, supportive leadership, recognition, and opportunities to contribute as well as hiring and training for citizenship.

In her closing remarks, Ms. Yolanda F. Juan, Chief Administrative Officer for Administration conveyed her warm appreciation to everyone who joined the event. She also recognized each employeesโ€™ hard work and dedication in contributing to TAU's success in various fields.

Pledging to provide a high quality workplace for TAU employees, โ€œwe, in the administration, commit to provide you opportunities for professional growth and development, and in making TAU a vibrant and enjoyable place to work,โ€ Ms. Juan conveyed.

The Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) Planning and Development Office (PDO) in collaboration with the Office of Vice President for Research, Extension and Training, College of Engineering and Technology (CET) - Computer Studies Department, CET Student Council, and DevCon Pampanga Chapter, participated in the localized celebration of 2025 National Innovation Day (NID) through a forum at the TAU Student and Alumni Center Amphitheater, 21 April.

Reinforcing its vision to emerge as a global leader in smart agriculture and bioresources research, TAU invited resource speakers who highlighted cutting-edge technologies and research initiatives.ย 

During the morning session, Mr. Jay Marc Valdez, Associate Manager for Data Engineering from DXC Technology, mentioned about lifeโ€™s challenges and encouraged the students to pursue innovation through perseverance and dedication before the presentation of team 403-Access Denied, who won the Hackathon Trailblazer Award.

In addition, Mr. Adrian L. Cruz,ย  Digital Transformation Manager from Google Philippines, demonstrated how generative AI can revolutionize crop management, resource efficiency, and responsible usage of AI in education followed by the presentation of Team RedLine, the winner of Hackathon Innovator Award, presented its output.

Following the informative presentations during the morning forum, an open discussion was also facilitated by the key speakers, to address the queries of listeners.

The afternoon session continued with presentations of milestones in biotechnology and root crop productivity by TAU experts Dr. Maria Elena T. Caguioa and Ms. Aira F. Waje, who showcased sustainable solutions. These were followed by a discussion led by Team Nexus, Hackathon Vanguard Awardee, highlighting their project, and a presentation on engineering innovations outlined by Engr. Mary Grace N. Semilla with the topic โ€œAtmometer-based Irrigation System.โ€ย 

During the closing remarks, Dr. Eugene S. Valeriano, PDO Director, representing Dr. Leonell P. Lijauco, Vice President for Planning and Quality Assurance (VPPQA), emphasized that National Innovation Day celebrates the bold ideas that propel the nation forward. He expressed profound gratitude to the speakers and to the Universityโ€™s facilitators for spearheading the event. โ€œMay this 2025 NID celebration cultivate the ideas into tangible solutions where our student innovators can together build a SMARTer, more sustainable TAU,โ€ he stated.
