
CAPTURED IN LENS | 3rd BS Development Communication Star Awards
The TAU-CAS Grounds glowed with excitement and pride as the 3rd BS Development Communication Star Awards took place on November 21, 2025. The event celebrated the creativity, dedication, and heart of student storytellers who used film to spark conversations and inspire change. With the theme “Where true stars of development shine,” the night highlighted stories rooted in real communities and real lives.
The program opened with a grand opening salvo performed by the selected 1st Year BS Development Communication students, setting an energetic and inspiring tone for the evening. CAS Dean Dr. Sherwin S. Alar delivered the opening remarks, expressing pride in the students’ accomplishments. University President Dr. Silverio Ramon DC. Salunson also shared an inspirational message, which was read aloud by CAS Assistant Dean Dr. Esmeralda P. Rodriguez, encouraging young communicators to continue using their talents for meaningful impact.
Mr. Nelmar A. Mallari, a member of the Sine-Sulong Core Team and Chief of the TAU Information Unit, reminded everyone of the true purpose of development communication. He emphasized that change begins with simple but meaningful efforts, especially when young communicators use their craft to voice concerns, tell untold stories, and become catalysts for development in their own unique ways.
A surprise highlight of the evening was the appearance of BS DevCom’s former Chair and program pioneer, Ms. Revina M. Lucero. She performed a special number and also took part in the ceremonial handing of results, adding a memorable touch to the night and inspiring both students and guests.
Following the Sine-Sulong Showcase on November 14, the awarding ceremony recognized students and teams who stood out for their creativity, passion, and commitment. FuBu (Malayang Panaghoy Promotions) captured the Top Grossing Award, Akyat-Panaog earned Most Improved Documentary, and Malayang Panaghoy also received the Most Innovative Promotions Team award.
Individual talents were also celebrated. Jeremy Ramos, BDSC 4 student, won Best Production Assistant, while 3rd Year BSDC students, Alvin Bautista, Cindy Briones, and Zoe Mariano, were recognized as the Rising Stars of Sine-Sulong. The film Lunas (Kandili Productions) impressed viewers and judges alike, winning Best Poster and Best Feature. Gundaway Promotions was honored for their exceptional field organization skills, taking home Best in Crowd Management. Other notable winners included:

· Best Assistant Promotion Director: Jasmine Jihlou Semillano
· Best Musical Scoring: Guhit Ng Ginhawa
· Best Cinematography: Guhit Ng Ginhawa
· Best in Editing: Panutsa
· Best Promotion Director: Hazel Samantha G. Delos Reyes
· Best Director: Justine Acosta
· Best Promotion Team: Gundaway Production
The documentary category brought some of the night’s most moving moments:
· 3rd Best Documentary: FuBu
· 2nd Best Documentary: Panutsa
· Best Documentary: Guhit Ng Ginhawa
Special recognitions were also given for outstanding contributions:
· Special Citation for Hosting: Fiona Sipocot
· Special Award for Pagsasadula: Akyat-Panaog
· Special Award for Breakthrough Storytelling: Sa Anino Ng Himala
The 3rd BS DevCom Star Awards celebrated young voices that are growing louder, braver, and more grounded in community. It reminded everyone that behind every camera, script, and editing timeline are students who dream not only of telling stories but of making a real difference.
And on that night, they truly did shine.
