The Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) community proudly celebrates another milestone as the University, through its Department of Extension and Training, was honored with the Regional Special Award for Safekeeping and Development Program by the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Regional Office III during its 35th Anniversary Celebration held on 29 July 2026 at the Orchid Garden Resort, Lazatin Boulevard, City of San Fernando, Pampanga. Conferred upon selected national government agencies that have made remarkable contributions to the welfare and development of Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs), the prestigious recognition affirms TAU's unwavering commitment to transforming lives through accessible and inclusive education.
The award highlights the University's enduring partnership with the BJMP Camiling Municipal Jail and the BJMP Tarlac City Jail in implementing the College Education Behind Bars program. Through this flagship extension initiative, qualified PDLs are given the opportunity to pursue college education while inside BJMP facilities, empowering them with knowledge, skills, and renewed hope for a better future. Receiving the award on behalf of the University were Director for Extension and Training Dr. Agnes C. Perey and Agricultural Technologist Ms. Rowena G. Espejo, whose dedication continues to advance TAU's mission of bringing quality education to every sector of society.
