The Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) has announced a significant surge in its performance on the national Board Licensure Examination for Psychometrician (BLEP), with its overall pass rate soaring to 82.14% in the September 2025 exams, a remarkable 21-point jump from the 2024 record of 60.98%.

The results, released by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), reveal the depth of the achievement, as out of 84 total examinees from TAU, 69 successfully earned their licenses. The performance was even more dominant among first-time takers, where 64 out of 75 candidates passed, yielding an exceptional first-timer passing rate of 85.33%. This marks a significant increase from the previous year, when only 25 out of 41 examinees passed.

This extraordinary improvement is being hailed as the result of a concerted, institution-wide effort to elevate the standards of its psychology program. According to CAS, the shift involved refining curricula, strengthening review systems, and bolstering preparation programs to meet the demands of the psychometrician licensure exam, which is still relatively new.

The driving force behind this success was a culture of aiming for excellence, not just adequacy. Dr. Sherwin S. Alar, CAS Dean, shared in a Facebook post the high expectations set for the students.

โ€œWhen I spoke to our graduating Psychology students, I told them not to settle for just passing the Board, but to aim higher, to top it,โ€ Dean Alar stated. โ€œThis yearโ€™s results proved that the challenge was worth it, and I couldnโ€™t be prouder.โ€

Dr. Alar also extended his gratitude to the dedicated faculty and the University administration, whose unwavering support was crucial to this accomplishment. โ€œI am deeply grateful to the faculty of the Department of Psychology who stood with me in guiding and supporting our students; you not only help them pass, but you lifted them to success. My thanks also go to our administration, led by our University President, Dr. Silverio Ramon DC Salunson, along with our vice presidents and officials, whose support has been invaluable.โ€

The psychometrician licensure exam is known for its rigor, testing both academic knowledge and practical application in the mental health sector. TAU's stellar performance in 2025 not only cements its growing reputation for producing highly competent professionals but also signals a promising trajectory for its psychology program, positioning it as a leader in advocating for mental health and well-being.
