Sine-Sulong 2025

CAPTURED IN LENS | Sine-Sulong 2025

The campus of Tarlac Agricultural University came alive once again as the Sine-Sulong Advocacy Documentary Screening opened its doors to thousands of TAUians eager to witness stories that champion development, humanity, and hope. Recognized as the biggest SDG-themed and socially relevant documentary showcase in TAU, this year’s event marked a milestone in community-centered storytelling.

The opening program set a warm and inspiring tone. Dr. Sherwin S. Alar welcomed the crowd with heartfelt opening remarks, emphasizing how Sine-Sulong has grown into more than a film event. To him, it is a movement that continues to deepen TAU’s commitment to advocacy-driven communication.

A meaningful message followed from DevCom faculty and Chief of the TAU Information Unit, Nelmar A. Mallari, who proudly commended both the production and promotions teams. He shared how each year’s documentaries continue to improve in craft and clarity, reflecting the growing maturity of student storytellers who dare to tell narratives that matter.

The event became even more special with the presence of the Department of Agrarian Reform. Ms. Garland Leila A. Cuarteros, Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer II, extended her warm congratulations to TAU for its recent victory in PelikulAgraryo. She was joined by DAR officials Mr. Gerald A. Fontanoza and Mr. Gabriel A. Sabinorio, who also witnessed how the university nurtures advocacy through film.

University President Silverio Ramon DC. Salunson delivered an inspirational message that resonated deeply with the audience. He expressed pride in the College of Arts and Sciences, the Department of Development Communication, and its allied programs for sustaining Sine-Sulong and for earning national recognition through PelikulAgraryo. His message highlighted how dedication, creativity, and collaboration can uplift entire communities.

This year’s opening was made even more memorable with a special screening of the award-winning documentary Rang-Ay. Its poignant storytelling set the tone for the day, reminding everyone how film can be a powerful tool for compassion and social reflection.

CAS Assistant Dean Esmeralda P. Rodriguez officially declared the opening of Sine-Sulong, marking the beginning of a full day of screenings that exceeded expectations.

All six shows were full, with every seat taken. The crowd’s excitement overflowed as each documentary took its turn on the screen.

1. Guhit ng Ginhawa

2. Lunas

3. Panutsa

4. Sa Anino ng Himala

5. Akyat-Panaog

Each story touched on relevant issues connected to the Sustainable Development Goals. The audience reacted with both silence and applause, depending on the gravity of the moment. But one thing was clear. The passion for advocacy storytelling in TAU is stronger than ever.

Sine-Sulong 2025 proved once more that when young filmmakers speak for communities and causes, the message can move an entire university. And as TAU continues to nurture this creative spirit, the future of advocacy communication looks incredibly bright.
