Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) participates in the SEA Pre-Service Teacher Education Conference and the Evaluation Meeting of the Southeast Asia (SEA) Teacher Programme, held at Seda Manila Bay in Parañaque City, 20 to 21 October.

Representing TAU are Dr. Marianne P. Villaruel, Director of the External Linkages and International Affairs (ELIA) Office, and Dr. Claire Anne A. Olivares, Dean of the College of Education (CEd), who join teacher education leaders, ministries, universities, and programme alumni from across Southeast Asia in reviewing evidence from the 11th Batch of the SEA Teacher Programme and identifying priority areas for strengthening its design and implementation.

The TAU delegation engages in plenary talks, panel discussions, and roundtable workshops on implementation, research, and policy, contributing to regional dialogue on practicum innovations, micro-credentials, AI and digital competencies, mobility, and teacher preparation standards. The conference, themed "Advancing Policy, Research, and Regional Collaboration in Teacher Education," features keynote addresses from Dr. Habibah Abdul Rahim, Director of the SEAMEO Secretariat, and Dr. Shirley C. Agrupis, Chairperson of the Commission on Higher Education (CHEd).

TAU's participation underscores the University's commitment to regional collaboration and evidence-based improvement of pre-service teacher education. Co-hosted by the Teacher Education Council (TEC) Philippines and Philippine Normal University (PNU), and co-organized with REX Education, the event culminates in a plenary reporting session, a statement on advancing pre-service teacher education in Southeast Asia, and a cultural visit to Intramuros.
