Mr. Noli Cayanga won first place with Kutibeng, an Ilocano-inspired electric guitar that combines cultural heritage with modern musical instrument design.
Mr. Michael Rafael secured second place for Dulang na Kawayan, an engineered bamboo center table that highlights the materialโs strength and natural appeal. He also placed fourth with BamKo, an engineered bamboo bench designed for comfort and functionality.
Meanwhile, Mr. Raniel Gomez earned third place with Tugaw na Kawayan, an engineered bamboo chair that showcases creativity and craftsmanship in furniture design.
The entries were crafted using products developed under TAU E-Bamboo, demonstrating how engineered bamboo can be transformed into functional and innovative pieces inspired by local culture and design.
โThrough the work of our innovators, we have seen how local materials like bamboo can be turned into innovative, functional, and sustainable products. This inspires us to see the importance of our natural resources and how they can be used for innovation and sustainable development,โ TAU President Dr. Silverio Ramon DC. Salunson said.
The E-Bamboo staff's achievements highlight the potential of engineered bamboo products to support sustainable innovation while incorporating cultural identity into contemporary craftsmanship.
