Notching their first win of the season, the Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) Buffalos stamped their ticket to the quarterfinals of the United Central Luzon Athletic Association (UCLAA) Season 10, overpowering the National University (NU) Clark Bulldogs, 74-51, at the Angeles University Foundation (AUF) Sports and Cultural Center, 20 September.ย

The victory marked a strong comeback after a challenging start to the season, which saw losses to the Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST) Phoenix, the AUF Great Danes, and a tough 101-80 defeat against the St. Nicolas College of Business and Technology (SNBCT) Hoplites on 21 September.

From the opening tip-off, the Buffalos executed a stifling 1-2-2 zone defense, holding the Bulldogs to just 11 points in the first quarter, 16-11. They extended their dominance in the second quarter, entering halftime with a commanding 36-23 advantage and never looked back, maintaining control through the second half (49-38) to secure the triumph.

Meanwhile, TAUโ€™s Lumuel Jake Lumibao, small forward, was named Best Player of the Game, leading the scoreboard with 16 points.

Head Coach Jovito P. Santos emphasized the strategy that led to their success: "Hard defense. Lahat ng itinuro ng coaching staff dapat mai-apply at wag mag-focus sa call ng mga referee. Focus lang sa game plan," he stated.

The Buffalos now look ahead to their next crucial fight in the quarterfinals against the Pampanga State University (PSU) at the Systems Plus College Foundation (SPCF) gym.ย
