Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) demonstrated an impressive trajectory of growth at the recently concluded Regional Culture and the Arts Festival (RCAF) 2025 hosted by the Pampanga State Agricultural University (PSAU) on 22-26 November.Β
The University journey saw it climb from 11th runner-up with just 10 points in 2023 to 8th runner-up with 36 points this year, a remarkable 260-percent increase that represents significant progress in TAUβs year-on-year performance.
While maintaining 36 points from the previous year, TAU advanced from 9th runner-up in 2024 to 8th runner-up in 2025, showcasing that strategic improvements can yield meaningful results even with stable point totals.
"I am confident that with our continued investment in enhanced training, broader access to local and international competitions, and improved benefits for our students, TAU is poised for even greater success in future RCAF editions," TAU President Dr. Silverio Ramon DC. Salunson said. He also extended his gratitude to all the TAUian delegates for their efforts throughout the months of preparation and during the actual competitions.
Leading TAU's achievements was Jesse B. CariΓ±oβs. The College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) student captured the Mr. CAASUC III 2025 title through a dominant performance across multiple segments. His victory was complemented by special awards including Best in Production Number, Best in Casual Wear, Mr. Telegenic, and Mr. Winsome Smile, along with a 2nd runner-up position in the Best in Talent category, all achieved under the guidance of Prof. Cecile L. Lapitan, Director of Sociocultural Development Office (SDO).
In Storytelling, champion performer John Lloyd V. Dacalanio of College of Education (CEd) presented "The Flood in Tarlac" by Gregorio Brillantes, a native of Camiling. Coach Ms. Leslie L. Fernando selected this challenging piece for its relevance, and the author's subsequent passing transformed the performance into a touching tribute to his literary legacy.
Fresh from achieving two Gold Diplomas at the 2025 Busan Choral Festival and Competition, the TAU Chorale demonstrated their international caliber at RCAF 2025. The ensembles secured two prestigious awards, with the Show Choir earning 2nd runner-up and the Standard Chorale achieving 4th runner-up, both nurtured under conductor Mr. Jefferson R. Manalang and coaches Ms. Princess S. Fernando, Mr. Pastor V. Ambat III, Ms. Alliah Mae M. Gamurot, and Ms. Liberty Y. Austria.
In visual arts, Kristia Mae N. Lino (College of Engineering and Technology) submitted a landscape photo framing Mt. Arayat, perfected through training with Mr. Jayson J. Elenzano. Ms. Lino earned the 3rd runner-up spot, while Mark Joshua F. Rivera (College of Veterinary Medicine) obtained the 3rd runner-up in Pencil Drawing by skillfully replicating a detailed hand drawing, under Ar. Precious Joy M. Corpuz's guidance.Β
Meanwhile, TAU's Hip-hop dance performance creatively depicted the historic Mactan Battle through intricate choreography developed under coaches Dr. Angelo P. Guillermo and Mr. Paul Christian A. Santos.
The 2025 festival yielded promising outcomes for TAU's national prospects, with two contenders securing qualification for the National Culture and the Arts Festival (NCAF) in Cebu this April 2026. Several performances came agonizingly close to victory, particularly the folk and indigenous dance groups finishing as fifth runners-up, underscoring TAUians artistic renaissance and strong positioning for succeeding RCAF editions.
