Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) has achieved a significant rise in the 2025 UI GreenMetric World University Rankings (WUR), climbing to 308th place globally from 324th the previous year. This upward movement reflects the University's continued commitment to fostering environmental conservation, as it solidifies its standing as a national and regional leader, holding firm at 5th in the Philippines and 1st within Central Luzon.

The Universityโ€™s overall score saw a positive increase of 3.2%, reaching 7,662.5 points. This growth was fueled by outstanding progress in several key areas, most notably in Waste Management, where TAUโ€™s score soared by 38.1%. This remarkable improvement propelled its national category rank from 15th to an impressive 6th place, highlighting the success of its targeted sustainability programs.

TAU also maintained its position as a national frontrunner in Energy and Climate Change, securing 5th place, nationally, with 1,685 points. This consistent top-tier performance underscores the institution's long-term commitment to energy efficiency, renewable resources, and climate action initiatives, forming a core pillar of its green advocacy.

Further demonstrating broad-based progress, the University posted gains in the Water and Education and Research categories, with both seeing increases in their total scores. The steady improvement across multiple metrics illustrates TAUโ€™s holistic approach to embedding sustainability into campus operations and academic culture.

The 2025 rankings ceremony was held at National Chi Nan University in Taiwan, where TAU was recognized among 89 Philippine higher education institutions, a notable increase from 63 the previous year. TAU stands as one of 13 colleges and universities from Region III, showcasing the region's active role in the country's sustainability movement.

Looking forward, TAU is poised to build on this positive momentum. The institutionโ€™s proven ability to improve its scores and climb global ranks signals a strong foundation for future initiatives and continued leadership in sustainable education.

This achievement celebrates the entire TAU community's sacrifice and hard work, marking another proud milestone in the University's 80-year mission to foster an environmentally responsible and forward-looking campus for generations to come.
