Ifugao State University (IFSU) warmly welcomed delegates from Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU), led by Dr. Silverio Ramon DC. Salunson, TAU President, on 3 September, for a benchmarking visit focused on imparting best practices and fostering collaboration. Aptly themed โBridging Ideas,โ the dialogue served as a platform for both institutions to exchange insights on leadership, academic excellence, and quality management systems, with a particular emphasis on the prestigious Philippine Quality Award (PQA).
The opening program, held at the Heritage Convention Hall of IFSU Lamut Campus, was graced by the leadership of both universities. IFSU President, Dr. Eva Marie Codamon-Dugyon, delivered a heartfelt message, thanking the IFSU-TAU partnership for its role in IFSUโs institutional development.
In response, Dr. Salunson expressed his institutionโs genuine interest in learning from IFSUโs experience. โThis visit was a profound opportunity for mutual learning and growth. We are deeply inspired by IFSU's best practices, particularly in the areas of international rankings, accreditations, indigenous knowledge systems, sustainable agriculture, and community engagement,โ Dr. Salunson remarked, adding that he hopes the partnership between IFSU and TAU will continue to expand.
A major highlight of the visit was the in-depth discussion on IFSUโs PQA journey. Led by Dr. Jengjeng M. Bolintao, Director of the Department of Quality Assurance, the ensuing sessions provided a comprehensive overview of the strategies, challenges, and successes IFSU encountered in its quest for this hallmark of organizational excellence. TAU officials engaged actively in a productive consultation, seeking valuable insights to apply to their own quality assurance frameworks and continuous improvement initiatives.
The afternoon was dedicated to simultaneous benchmarking sessions and a campus tour, where participants were divided into groups aligned with the seven PQA criteria categories: Leadership, Planning, Student and Stakeholder Focus, Measurement and Knowledge Management, Workforce, Operations, and Results.ย
Laying a strong foundation to drive future innovations and joint ventures, the event also featured a ceremonial signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), solidifying the commitment of IFSU and TAU to sustained partnerships and mutual growth.ย
