Emphasizing the vital role of public servants in building strong institutions, Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) proudly recognized its very own Model Non-Teaching Employee, or Katangi-tanging Kawani ng Gobyerno, during the annual Search for Katangi-tanging Kawani ng Unibersidad, held in line with the celebration of the 125th Philippine Civil Service (CSC) Anniversary at the Gilberto O. Teodoro Multipurpose Center on 29 September.
The award was conferred once again to Mr. Roderick V. Garidan, Administrative Aide V from the Planning and Development Office (PDO) β Management and Information Systems (MIS), after he obtained the highest score of 92.077% during the deliberation of the Program on Awards and Incentives for Service Excellence (PRAISE) committee.
A father of three, Mr. Garidan, or simply βKuya Rickβ among his comrades, began his career as a computer technician in a private IT company before joining TAU in 2012. Since then, he has demonstrated deep commitment to public service, productivity, compassion, and resourcefulness in every responsibility entrusted to him. Colleagues describe him as a reliable partner, a problem-solver with cost-saving initiatives, and an inspiration who proves that true service means going beyond what is expected, all while fulfilling his responsibilities to his wife and children.
In a recent interview with the Information Unit (IU), Mr. Garidan expressed his profound gratitude to the institution for recognizing his hard work, especially to his PDO and the Office of Vice President for Planning and Quality Assurance (OVPPQA) family. He also acknowledged that all his wisdom and strength come from the Creator.
Beyond efficiency and reliability, Mr. Garidan has also been instrumental in initiatives that enhanced the operations of his unit, ensuring better services for students, faculty, and the wider TAU community.
As a testament to his unwavering commitment, Mr. Garidan has been consistently recognized by TAU through the following awards since becoming a permanent employee in 2012:
l Most Courteous β 2017
l Most Courteous β 2018
l Model Employee β 2019
l Most Cooperative β 2022

In recognizing Mr. Garidan, TAU President Dr. Silverio Ramon DC. Salunson emphasized that non-teaching employees, often working quietly behind the scenes, deserve the same honor and appreciation as other members of the academe. βThis recognition reflects the value of every TAU employee whose hard work and dedication make the universityβs milestones possible,β Dr. Salunson shared.
As TAU applauds Mr. Garidan for being named Katangi-tanging Kawani ng Unibersidad (Model Non-Teaching Employee), the award becomes more than just recognitionβit serves as a reminder that in every desk, every hallway, and every office, true public service lives on through the dedication of TAUβs workforce.
