Continuing a strong tradition of international academic collaboration since 2019, the Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) and Chiang Rai Rajabhat University (CRRU) โ€“ Thailand renewed their partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) via Zoom on 8 August.

The virtual MOU signing was led by the academic leaders of both institutions: Dr. Silverio Ramon DC. Salunson, TAU President, and Dr. Sornchai Munthaisong, CRRU President.

TAU representatives in the event included members of the External Linkages and International Affairs (ELIA) Office: Dr. Marianne P. Villaurel, Director; Dr. Sheila R. Lingaya, Assistant Director and Chief for International Mobility; and Ms. Caroline N. Gabis, Chief for Partnership Development.

Also present were Dr. Claire Anne A. Olivares, Dean of the College of Education (CED); Dr. Lavina Gracia M. Ramirez, Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM); along with ELIA Coordinators Dr. Kestrel Joy Isla (CVM), Mr. Jayson J. Elenzano (College of Engineering and Technology, CET), and Ms. Katrina J. Adajar (College of Arts and Sciences, CAS).

CRRU was represented by Dr. Natthaphon Santhi, Assistant President, and Ms. Kristine Mangampo Ibarra, Lecturer at the Language Institute and Global Affairs.

Dr. Salunson highlighted the strategic importance of global engagement in contemporary education, affirming TAUโ€™s high commitment to meaningful international cooperation. โ€œAs we renew our MOU, we reaffirm our dedication to advancing innovation, academic excellence, and enduring partnerships. This collaboration creates opportunities that cross borders and empowers the next generation of leaders and changemakers,โ€ Dr. Salunson stated.

Echoing this commitment, Dr. Munthaisong emphasized the shared vision of both institutions. โ€œThis MOU renewal represents more than a formal agreement; it reinforces our belief that education must transcend borders. It reflects our dedication to student mobility, joint engagements, research collaboration, and co-creation of knowledge that benefits universities and academic communities across Asia.โ€

Under the renewed agreement, TAU and CRRU will provide exchange and mobility opportunities for students, faculty, and staff; conduct joint research activities and publications; share best practices through benchmarking; implement cooperative projects on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), internationalization, language, culture, and the arts; and facilitate the exchange of academic resources.

This mutual agreement underscores TAUโ€™s and CRRUโ€™s commitment to ASEAN integration, regional development, and building sustainable, transnational academic networks.
